An aging widowed father’s fear of death has lead him to an obsession with finding the secret to immortality. Upon the return of his estranged children, he discovers one of them is showing early signs of the disease that took his wife. The story takes place in the early 20th century, and the tone and execution of the film acts as a study of the German Expressionist style of the time. |
