Carvajal’s projection art piece “Modern Man” presents cultural icons and other male figures through blurred images. Kodacrome’s title song plays on the soundtrack. These obfuscated clips almost seem to run into each other, playing on the theme of new media repetition and society’s tendency to idolize men of high visibility. After some time, the manipulated images begin to bleed into flashes of strobe lights and an array of hypnotic colors. |
