The Keenan’s are a well-respected family. Silently they have kept their secrets and watched the family fall apart over the recent years. Among others, they have watched their daughter Carrie’s alcohol problems getting worse and worse, up to an extent where she is unable to live without it. In an attempt to try and take over the business, Carrie tries to blackmail Derek, her father, into signing over control of his business. Resenting her family, she threatens to publish damaging information about Derek involving corrupt cash payments if he does not give her what she wants. Wanting to protect his political career, and to get his daughter to see sense, Derek sets up an intervention with the entire family. But this gathering turns out to be different than expected. It falls apart from the very beginning as Carrie starts to unveil family secrets that no one has mentioned for decades. Her revelations have huge consequences not just for herself and her father but for the entire family. It is only when they accept their own failings as a whole, that they finally find back together again. The Edge of Chaos is not just a story about addiction, it is also a story about family, and how an addiction doesn’t only affect the individual, but the people closest to them. |
