THE ROOF was co-written by Sean Galvin and Chris Tedrick. It was filmed at a single location in Bushwick, Brooklyn over the span of several months. What began as a series of short clips filmed inside a small apartment, soon turned into a narrative project. The creator (Sean Galvin) asked fellow writer/friend (Chris Tedrick) to watch the compiled clips and write an ending to the narrative, giving him the creative freedom to write whatever he was inspired to. The film had no budget and involved only three people in its production. Sean Galvin: Writer, Director, Producer, Director of Photography, Editor, Actor Chris Tedrick: Co-Writer and Director, Assistant Camera Matthew Kenney: Actor (Garth) As Director of Photography, Sean challenged himself by not using any production lights or sound equipment (outside of the camera’s internal microphone) and filmed without a tripod for the entirety of the film, using only found objects (books, stools, remote controls, etc.) around him to stabilize the camera, to provide the angles and height needed to capture the shots required for the film. |
