In 1991, the Indian government unleashed a series of reforms that opened up the economy to the world and forever changed the landscape of the country. In the last 20-odd years, no country has changed so much as India has. And while there have been dozens of books chronicling India’s change, no film has so far sought to tell this story. Set in 2004, against the backdrop of the then-popular India Shining campaign (celebrating India’s high-growth story), Mantra tells the intimate story of a family, and through it, the story of the New India. |
