The story of Hany, a 48-year-old Palestinian man, married and father of six, from the village of Biddu, who works and lives during the week at the Jerusalem SPCA compound next to the security fence. Together with a number of Israeli workers, Hany takes care of 400 dogs and watches over them at night, when the place is empty. His loneliness is abated by TV and his faithful dog Sophie. The film follows Hany’s routine and the deterioration of his relations with the Israelis, after an incident in which two dogs are wounded during his night shift. This case, along with a wave of theft in the compound and his objection to giving up his beloved dog for adoption, raise doubts about Hany’s ability to continue functioning, and without his knowledge, his colleagues begin to look for a replacement. |
