Details:

An exploration of the nature of creativity, artistic integrity, improvisation and perfect timing - through an intimate portrait of free improvising soprano saxophonist Lol Coxhill, who died in 2012. A great musician, he was also loved for his idiosyncratic sense of humour and dress sense. Specialising in the solo improvisation, Lol also toured with soul singer Rufus Thomas, played at Woodstock with progressive rocker Kevin Ayers, guested with punk band the Damned, and had cameo roles in films by Sally Potter and Derek Jarman. Artist Helen Petts’ film creates a collage of five stunningly beautiful solo saxophone improvisations, mixed with archive footage, and intimate close-ups of Coxhill’s toys, junk, books, records and instruments.
