The 78-minute documentary both questions and examines the many unspoken myths of a woman’s core sexuality — her vulva. These deep-seated beliefs directly affect female sexual self-esteem. Photographer Nick Karras has composed intimate images with an unusual sensitivity. The documentary follows his personal journey in producing a book of artful photographs. The movie records the reactions of sex educators, women’s health professionals, art critics, female activists, and men/women-in-the-street as they confront the physical mystery of womanhood. It also exposes the recent cosmetic surgical procedure called labia-plasty as a fraudulent redefinition of female beauty. |
