I believe this still occurs. Whether similar applications for parole still go on, obviously, I don't know. But if someone can be got at in one way or another,
...
just like juries have been, then criminals via corruption of the system can get released and reoffend.

As stated in previous, this has no real indications of being a real Film Noir, but an enjoyable afternoon entertainment. The plot is somewhat predictable
...
and the screenplay is endurable. The actors are believable and endurable.
Not a must see, but passable.

This has none of the elements that would make it a real film noir. Rather it's what you might call an "undercover police procedural." Some okay moments
...
of suspense, and the plot holds together well enough, but there's nothing all that interesting about it, except perhaps for one unintentionally funny scene: A 240 lb thug gets into a brawl with a little housewife, mixes it up with her all over her living room for a few minutes, and seems well on his way to losing the fight before he finally pulls his gun out.

Surprisingly entertaining little potboiler about a cop who goes undercover to get down to the bottom of why crooks are getting off on parole so easily.
...
He chums along with local baddies, while putting his story together. Lots of action, good story buildup and fairly good acting make this more passable than others.

This movie starts poorly with a kind of propaganda ploy about the undesirability of letting people go easily on parole. It ends the same way. However,
...
in between and for most of the movie, the acting, especially by O'Shea and a few others, and a tight plot with plenty of action, allow us to transcend the neanderthal and heavily done propaganda intentions. Better music and better acting from the people in bit parts would have greatly advanced this movie which is entertaining but not scintillating. The actors who played the gangsters by and large do a great job; the police, less so.

Michael O'Shea does very well in the lead role of an undercover agent. The supporting cast is good. The plot makes sense, moves along in an orderly manner,
...
and has good resolution for the ending. This was an enjoyable movie. Michael O'Shea's career never reached the heights of his then wife, Virginia Mayo, but he was enjoyable to watch in the movies he was in.

Eagle Lion Studios made mob movies that were mostly good enough to be "A" movies but never spent the money needed so they came out "B", like this movie.
...
Mobsters are running a corrupt parole board where rich people get richer and cons get out of jail. It doesn't make sense really but it can keep your attention and moves at a good pace.
