DUNE, from the Frank Herbert books of the same name, is one the great movies along with others that make up the twentieth Century movie experience. Some of these movies in the twentyfirst century are being re-made. However the originals are sometimes the best.
Notable appearances - "the Pug" which became an icon in its own right and many more too many to mention.

that hasn't cut the heart plug scenes. The Baron requires frequent blood transfusions, everyone is at his disposal, hence all the diseases he's picked up. It's important to see these scenes, so the viewer is properly horrified by what real tyranny can look like and understand what life under the heel of House Harkonnan is like.

its place as a classic in the science fiction film genre. As someone raised in the Christian tradition, I enjoyed the hopeful ending where Paul Atreides establishes himself as the hand of God and instills hope in all the people of Arrakis. I haven't read the book, but if indeed this ending is more hopeful than that of the book, I would affirm it as fitting for casual viewers who receive consolation from stories about good overcoming evil.

to Frank Herbert's version of Dune. I've found that version when I made use of Vuze for a couple of years. There are two parts, Dune and Children of Dune, if I remember correctly. I might upload that movie here.
That version of Frank Herbert is far more realistic, if realistic is the right term. It's made with a keen eye for beauty, atmosphere, and suspense, not such extreme loudness of machinery and battle scenes. In short, it isn't as brutal and vulgar as this version of 1984.
