After escaping her home planet, alien renegade Joalla Utann falls in love with a woman from Earth. But Joalla's home world has strict rules about leaving, and so they send a Huntress to retrieve her, no matter the cost. Listen to the score by Philip Chance here:    • HUNTRESS - Original Short Film Score ...   A WORD FROM CHRIS HUNTRESS is a spin off story to my graphic novel FIRST BORN, which you can purchase here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077VVH8VP/... I hope to one day make a feature out of FIRST BORN, and then tie in this short film as a possible sequel, but I'm getting ahead of myself. The idea for HUNTRESS came from my desire to expand upon the established canon of FIRST BORN, I really like the idea of an advanced race of aliens who put Earth on a no fly list. Because we have such a long way to go as a civilization, it makes total sense that more intelligent beings would not want to associate with us. And having a race of aliens divided on that principle seems interesting to me. What I like most about the Huntress, in both this story and my graphic novel is their perceptions of humans. The benevolent alien characters, like Joalla, love us and want to help us. But the Huntresses are just mean, cold and cruel. We are just canon fodder to them, much like the cenobites of Hellraiser, unless we possess something they want, we're screwed the second they show up. One thing I am very proud of with this short film is my cast. The cast of HUNTRESS contains some of the most talented women I have worked with in this past year. Tess Speranza brought so much humanity and depth to Joalla. She felt like a real person who just wanted to be loved. Emily Taylor Martin brought a wonderful vulnerability to Zoey. Her relationship with Tess seemed sincere. And of course, Mariah Maison's Huntress was a true bastard of a character. She was just utterly vile and remorseless. My only regret in making this film was I could not afford to make it longer.
