Idiocracy is a 2006 American satirical science fiction comedy film directed by Mike Judge and starring Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, and Terry Crews.
The film tells the story of two people who take part in a top-secret
military hibernation experiment, only to awaken 500 years later in a dystopian society where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and that is devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights.

This movie was pretty funny. Would have laughed more if it wasn't disturbingly similar to our world today. Mike Judge's prediction was about 500 years

off, and exaggerated. But a lot of the themes and critiques in the movie can be tied into the real world. For example, the corporate takeover of America. Corporations may not directly own government agencies like the FDA and FCC. But they do control them for the most part due to millions of dollars annually in "lobby" money. Also, more and more people tend to vote for short-term interests instead of the greater good in the long term, and for people like Trump. He might actually be dumber than Camacho too since Camacho appointed Joe, the smartest man on Earth in 2505 to solve some of the country's problems, and saved him in the end when results were seen. The most important and accurately-predicted one of these themes is anti-intellectualism. Especially since sites such as Instagram and TikTok are widely used. And any time you attempt to speak logically, you're faced with things like the nerd emoji and "what is bro yapping about." As a zoomer, I see that nonsense almost every day in my demographic. And the problem is just ever worse with Generation Alpha. I think more people should watch this movie, so they can hear this warning. And hopefully young generations like mine can even take steps to prevent Idiocracy from coming true, ever. 5 stars, will heed this warning Judge gave the world.

folks do not forget that this is entertainment, the topic is good but no one should ask for reasonabilies. ti's acomedy and i wouldn't say sci-fi it's

rather a social fiction (comedy).
Sure we have to take care, what i liked is "the chimp" (the receptionist in hospital) - "with growing level of software intelligence will decrease until we know red is for apple and yellow is for banana" stated around 1980. People do not use their pink mass anymore for everyday jobs such as calculating, routing, reading especially if that takes time, all ths ittle things we let do mostly our smartphone which we almost can't take anymore off our faces. It leads to this decay and i guess it's already widespread. But i guess it also to do with a certain class of ppl the nine-to-fivers in third or fourth generation, they have the impression that it isn't needed to learn anything, at least i have this impression, it is as if they would guess they know it all because of their position in society this class achieved by simply letting the clock strike by in all those administrations which adminitrate administrative adminitrations - all shareholding companies not to forget. I mean you just have to listen how unsatisfied they feel while they earn triple of a worker who would say "well i haven't the best salary but else i'm satisfied with my situation, i could need a new car", imaginative illnesses caused by boreness and they let themself pay by welfare for their imaginative illnesses to get even sicker and degenerate even a little more. I mean who buys all this overpriced snake oil they sell today? certainly not the worker and he neither spends a lot of money to pump javel in the ass of his children, no it is this named class who believe in all this hokus pokus. Invests in scams any worker rightaway will say "can't work". follows any nutrition trend without to think and so on the list is long.
A general lack of imagination. Which brings us back to the start the undrtrained pink mass. In german we say "begreifen" for understand it's derived from greifen to grip and i guess that's exactly the point. to train this pink mass it's not enough to learn things by heart you have to execute things with your hands, yes you got hands and they are meant to use :) no matter what craft you execute it trains your imagination of complex relations, a good craftsman won't need a flowchart up to a certain level of course. You can list and outstrike easy without a whiteboard, imagine complexer bodies and abstract things. but this comes only with practice and it won't matter so much which craft since all depend on the communication between receptors and brain, complex ways of communication.
Get creative, something which suits you and get skilled in it, success isn't important except what you set as goal(s), that counters the decay and leaves satisfaction in you instead the dissatisfaction of a life you never can reach and as sideeffect it trains the pink mass.
And sometimes i am here just to read, just to pick an old book out of this vast library here, it's inspiring, much more as a movie can.

Idiocracy is the type of movie that was primarily made for giggles and laughs, but the idea of a future like that scares me, and the fact that this movie

might be telling the truth.
An example is when Joe first wakes up in Frito's house and Frito is shown to be watching a very mediocre comedy show with a bunch of random and very flashy ads on the screen. This indicates that in that future, peoples' attention span along with their IQ has hit an all-time low. We can relate this to the current social media, where short content (Youtube shorts, reels and TikTok) has a certain genre of videos where a random Family Guy or South Park clip is playing on the top and a Subway Surfers or Minecraft playthrough at the bottom. This tells us that the attention span of young people (especially Gen Z and Kids who grow up with iPads) has rapidly been declining and those types of videos are made for them to keep on watching.
There are a few pacing issues and the logic sometimes doesn't make sense, but it was seriously ahead of its time.

Kinda mid otherwise, but I suppose that's the point of a comedy with this premise lol
I'm just annoyed it took Joe literally the entire movie to realized ... the "time machine" wasn't real, and he never even realized Rita wasn't a painter.
The green screen effects didn't age well, but the acting is good.
But hey, if you want an occasional laugh, this isn't bad.

Though it does require suspending disbelief on certain points. 1) If everyone has an IQ below Forrest Gump how do they keep the computer systems running

(which are quite functional at spotting fugitives) 2)That Starbucks, Fuddruckers and Hardees will still be active chains in 500 years (ok they probably helped pay for the movie...) 3) That it would be such an awful place to live if everybody got laid so often. I think that may just be the untapped answer to World Peace. There seem to be no wars in this Dystopia

up trying to do good things in our lives and why profit must not have the priority over quality of human life. i recommend the film by all means.
