A couple years ago our town started this program called no mow May where we don’t mow our lawns in the month of May, in an effort to bring back pollinating bees So far I’ve seen an insurgence in wasps but not bumble bees
That’s because grass has nothing to do with pollination, unless there is dandelions. Flowers are needed. There are some wasps, like mud daubers, that like to burrow in the ground. Not sure if they would get in a decent lawn, but Mowing might help keep them away.
